Salary

This full-time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of one year.

An Operations Manager is required in the Mixed Reality Laboratory (MRL) based at the Jubilee Campus.

The Mixed Reality Lab is an interdisciplinary research centre investigating the ways in which computers impact on society, influencing all aspects of our lives.  It currently has a portfolio of around 15 research grants with an award value of around £12m.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all non-technical project and financial management for MRL research activities, assisting the principal investigators with the administrative management responsibilities of research projects, monitoring budgets, marketing, purchasing and staff recruitment, with the main objectives of maintaining efficient lab systems, maximising use of research funding, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and maintaining continuity for staff and students.  The post also involves organising and minuting meetings, as well as supervising an administrative assistant.

Candidates should have at least a degree level qualification in business management, or equivalent, relevant work experience, together with proficiency in MS Office packages, financial management and excellent communication skills.  They should also have experience with university administration.  Knowledge of the University’s Agresso finance system will be an advantage, but training will be given.
