
Sarah Sharples is a lecturer in ergonomics at the University of Nottingham. She completed her PhD in 1999, on methodological and theoretical issues in the assessment of participants’ experiences of virtual environments. She has a first degree in Psychology and an MSc in Human Factors in Manufacturing Systems. She is the statistics and methodology consultant for the IOE and VIRART. She has been primary researcher on two major projects investigating the Health and Safety Issues of VR use, and is currently working on projects sponsored by British Aerospace and Railtrack. Her main research interests are in Human-Computer Interaction, cognitive ergonomics and development of research methodologies for examination of interaction with innovative technologies.
