Alastair Hampshire

I am currently a research assistant at the School of Computer Science and Information Technology department at the University of Nottingham, where I am a member of the Mixed Reality Laboratory. My main research interests are pervasive gaming and domestic UbiComp. To date, I have been involved with a number of different gaming projects: Yoshi, iPerg, Participate and MobiMissions. I have also been involved with several other projects ranging from wearable medical sensing to the visualisation of cosmological supercomputer simulations. During the course of my career I have undertaken placements at the HIT Lab NZ and IBM Hursley’s Emerging Technologies Services department. My PhD research focused on the issues surrounding mobility in large scale, wide area distributed computer systems. Back in 2002 I completed a BSc in Computer Science at the University of Lancaster. When I’m not studying I like to spend my time outdoors either climbing, hiking or mountain biking.
